Qualico Communities breaks ground on new community in southwest Airdrie.

Qualico Communities marks the ground-breaking at Vantage Rise, a new community in southwest Airdrie. The first portion of development will be spread across 160 acres and will be developed in four phases, incorporating a main central park, which will front onto Vantage Rise, the community’s pedestrian-oriented main street. In Phase 3, a nine-acre school site will come online, as well as another 1.5 acre park.

There will also be a limited number of view lots and pond lots offered. “The community rises quite steeply from east to west. You can’t see it when you are just sitting on the road, but when you drive the community, you really get a view over the city to the east. It is quite beautiful. When you see it, you’ll go, ‘Holy cow — this has a view,’ ” says Kienitz.Article content

The overall community design prioritizes connectivity and a large pool of amenities. At its heart is Vantage Commons, a 12.25-acre commercial development with restaurants, coffee shops and stores. The second block of land slated for development in Vantage Rise is located directly south of the first and will comprise more than a quarter section of land and offer another nine-acre school site and additional park and community enhancements.
