Vanderbilt center, leading scorer Liam Robbins out for season after leg fracture

Vanderbilt big man and leading scorer Liam Robbins will miss the rest of the season with a leg injury, the Commodores announced on Friday.

."He's gotten better and better since he's been here. He's battled with some injuries before that, but when he's playing at a high level, it elevated our team to a high level, gave our whole team a lot of confidence."

Robbins led Vanderbilt with a career-high 15 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season. The 7-footer racked up an SEC-best 82 blocks, which averaged out to 3.2 blocks per game. Only Western Kentucky’s Jamarion Sharp averaged more in the country. Robbins transferred to Vanderbilt before last season after spending time at both Minnesota and Drake. The Iowa native helped Vanderbilt win seven of its last eight games, including one over then-No. 6 Tennessee. The Commodores will wrap up their regular season on Saturday against Mississippi State. They sit in sixth in the SEC standings, and will likely need to make a significant run in Nashville to make the NCAA tournament — something the program hasn’t done since 2017.
