Bracewell is a champion of electric vehicles and cycling and is working on the city’s 2040 transportation plan that will include the use of driverless cars on city streets.

The man in charge of the City of Vancouver’s transportation strategy fractured his elbow when he was knocked off his bike in a hit and run on Thursday morning.

“Today this was so real as an aggressive driver knocked me over while I was biking to work. I’m in the hospital right now getting X-rays. I still am in shock that a driver did something like this. Thx to all who cared for me after the car knocked me over,” Bracewell tweeted. — Dale Bracewell March 28, 2019Over the course of the next few hours, Bracewell — who lives in North Vancouver and has three children — received dozens of responses from his followers. He even received a direct tweet from ICBC offering to help with his claim.

“I may need to rejoin NACTO’s Cities for Cycling community — at least to share how horrible it is to be the victim of such aggressive driver behaviour — to fuel urban cities even more for the streets that don’t yet have a more protected place for people on bikes,” Bracewell tweeted.
