The C’s resume action after all\u002Dstar break Friday in Spokane, sitting in top spot in the Northwest League on an eight\u002Dgame winning streak.

Vancouver Canadians ace Ricky Tiedemann of the American League delivers a pitch to the plate during the All-Star Futures Game against the National League at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday. Tiedemann, who threw a perfect fifth inning on nine pitches, has likely seen his last of the C’s and Nat Bailey Stadium. It’s sounding like the Vancouver Canadians’ chase of the second-half pennant in the Northwest League won’t include ace pitcher Ricky Tiedemann.

It hadn’t been announced officially by early Thursday afternoon, but TSN’s Scott Mitchell is reporting that Tiedemann, the 19-year-old southpaw who has been rapidly ascending the prospect ranks, has been promoted by the parent club Toronto Blue Jays and will be with the double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats of the Eastern League when minor league baseball resumes action from the Major League Baseball all-star break on Friday.

Older brother Tai Tiedemann, 26, a right-hander with the Texas Rangers’ double-A affiliate Frisco RoughRiders of the Texas League, backed up Mitchell’s report on his social media as well. Vancouver starts a three-game set on the road against the Spokane Indians Friday night, sitting in first place in their high-A Northwest loop and riding an eight-game winning streak. The club, which is managed by North Delta native Brent Lavallee, is back at Nat Bailey Stadium for a six-game set against the Everett AquaSox starting Tuesday.Article content

The top team from the 66-game second half in the Northwest League will play a best-of-five league championship series against the Eugene Emeralds, who won the first half. Vancouver’s final regular season series runs Sept. 6-11, when the Canadians host the Emeralds at the Nat. If Eugene , currently third in the six-team loop, wins the second half as well, then the team with the next best combined record from both halves faces the Emeralds in the playoffs.
