UTSA schedule tweaked as Conference USA adjusts for departures

The Roadrunners have just one new opponent because of the shift, playing at Florida International on Oct. 15 in lieu of a date at Southern Miss on Oct. 29. Seven games on UTSA’s docket remain unchanged, including the first six of the year, while four C-USA contests are set for the same opponent and location, but on different dates.
Marshall, Old Dominion and Southern Miss are expected to compete in the Sun Belt Conference this fall after C-USA announced Tuesday that the programs and league “reached a resolution that allows the schools to withdraw as members at the end of the academic year.” Conference USA will have 11 teams for the 2022 season — perhaps the final year before the rest of the realignment dominoes fall. UTSA was one of six schools to announce in October a future move to the American Athletic Conference, making the shift from C-USA along with Florida Atlantic, Charlotte, North Texas, Rice and UAB. That jump has been targeted for no later than July 2024, with the potential of a move in 2023.
