Returning Conference USA Freshman of the Year Kevorian Barnes will lead UTSA's rushers in 2023, joined by Kaedric Cobbs and Vanderbilt transfer Rocko Griffin.

But through two years in the Roadrunners’ system, Barnes has also developed into a bruising downhill rusher, bulking up from a listed weight of 185 pounds when he was recruited to his current weight of 215.
Barnes played UTSA’s final two games of 2022 with a torn labrum, eventually undergoing an offseason surgery that limited him to individual drills during the Roadrunners’ spring practice. “I want to settle down,” Barnes said. “This year, I plan on trying to be a little bit more elusive and trying to balance a little bit more, and keep the same aggression.”
Traylor has heaped praise on Cobbs’ handling of the setbacks, calling him “the epitome of what integrity is,” “an unbelievable human” and “the guy you want marrying your daughter.” The Roadrunners also boast a few newcomers with potential to immediately contribute, headlined by Vanderbilt transfer Rocko Griffin, a sophomore who ran for 695 yards with five touchdowns across 22 career games with the Commodores.
