Some of Utah's mountain ranges could receive 2 feet or more of snow this week, which would likely put this year's snowpack into a league of its own for mid-March.
Precipitation is expected to strengthen Wednesday ahead of a cold front that is set to arrive in the Wasatch Front either in the late morning or afternoon.
6 to 12 inches of snow is forecast for the southern mountains, though some areas in the Tushar and Pine Valley ranges may end up with as much as 18 inches of snow. The level of 22.9 inches is 0.2 inches below the all-time record for March 13, which was set in 1997.
