BRUSSELS: The United States is"well positioned" to reach a deal with the European Union before the end of 2023 to allow critical minerals mined or processed in Europe to qualify for US clean vehicle tax breaks, a senior US treasury official said on Monday .
The United States signed a deal with Japan in March. Now, both the EU and Britain are looking for the same. The US already included countries with which it has a free trade agreement. "I think we're well-positioned to conclude this as quickly as they're able to move, mindful of the fact that we need to do something that's consistent with the Inflation Reduction Act and with our domestic requirements," the official said.
