Nearly 1,500 new deaths from Covid-19 were reported on Wednesday in the United States, the highest single-day tally since mid-May,The news comes just 48 hours after US President Donald Trump insisted that"the recent rise in cases has not been accompanied by a significant increase in deaths." Over 165,900 people now died in the United States from COVID-19, according to Johns Hopkins University.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention predicts that as many as 190,000 Americans could be dead by the end of August.
