Niger's junta asks US to withdraw military from the country over disagreements with Washington.
Niger’s junta asked the US to withdraw military personnel from the country over disagreements with Washington on issues including progress on the country’s transition to democratic rule, a US official said yesterday.
“We had concerns about the lack of movement on announcing a transition to democratic rule, and we had some concerns about the external partners that they were seeking to work with.” Niger’s junta previously proposed a three-year timeline for a transition back to civilian rule after the army seized power.
