US plans for ‘largest ever’ spaceship to transport humans to Jupiter and back
The crew would be housed in a 12m diameter chamber which could be used for both sleep and exercise.
Speed would be key as one of the biggest challenges of space travel is the sheer time it takes to traverse the void. Such long travel periods make manned space flight difficult - while a ship travelling at speeds of Fusion II would make things much simpler.
