Swiatek has three French Open triumphs to her name and also won last year’s US Open

won her 18th grand slam and third straight at the US Open in 2014, the expectation was that the American would continue to sweep up and eventually smash Margaret Court’s singles record.

But as we now know, that did not come to fruition. Williams went on to win five more majors but her last triumph was to come in 2017, with four final defeats to follow., bar a retirement U-turn, and though it signalled the end of an era, at Flushing Meadows there had already been a spate of winners that followed her 2014 win.
