WASHINGTON - Pentagon officials said on Tuesday there is no evidence of Ukraine misusing the tens of billions in aid provided since Russia invaded, as Republican lawmakers in Washington move to step up oversight.
“There’s no evidence that the Ukrainians are diverting it to the black market,” Dr Kahl said, of aid to Kyiv. The Defence Department’s inspector-general, Mr Robert Storch, told the committee that there were a “significant number” of people in the region overseeing the Ukraine supply and training mission.
Washington has not seen “any evidence of any type of widespread diversion of any of the assistance that we provided,” Brig-Gen Ryder told journalists.The United States has spearheaded the push for international support for Ukraine, quickly forging an international coalition to back Kyiv after Russia invaded in February 2022 and coordinating aid from dozens of countries.
