The USS Theodore Roosevelt is expected to participate in joint exercises with South Korea and Japan this month.
This picture taken on May 17, 2024 and released from North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency on May 18, 2024 shows a test fire of a tactical ballistic missile into which a new autonomous navigation system is introduced in the East Sea of Korea, at an undisclosed location in North Korea.
The announcement came a day after the South summoned the Russian ambassador to Seoul to protest a defence deal signed by President Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang this week, which included a pledge to come to each other’s aid if attacked. The USS Theodore Roosevelt is expected to participate in joint exercises with South Korea and Japan this month. Pyongyang has always decried similar combined drills as rehearsals for an invasion.
