Thu, April 18th 2024 at 10:21 AM its success in supporting Black maternal health.In fact, a 2021 study from Pennsylvania’s Department of Health found that pregnancy-associated mortality was higher in Pennsylvania than the national average, sitting at 82 deaths per 100,000 births.

Women can lower their mortality rates by providing their doctor with pregnancy history, educating themselves on urgent maternal warning signs, and connecting with health care and social support systems before, during or after pregnancy. Experts say healthcare providers can help lower mortality rates by helping patients understand the urgent maternal warning signs, eliminating unconscious bias in themselves and their office, and helping patients manage chronic conditions that may occur during pregnancy like diabetes or depression.
