A group of UPEI students has created a new virtual platform that connects food lovers with bloggers, allowing them to earn money on their creative cooking videos.

Chef+ co-founder Alaa Emad Elsayed helped develop the app with Luis Woldu. Esayed does the coding and infrastructure for the app while Woldu is responsible for its visuals and marketing strategy. - Jennie Pham/SaltWire NetworkCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. —

UPEI students Luis Woldu and Alaa Emad Elsayed collaborated to design the app, which took about eight months. Luis Woldu, left, and Alaa Emad Elsayed do some tests on the Chef+ cooking app they created. The app connects food lovers with bloggers. - Jennie Pham/SaltWire Network “The idea is you can watch most of the videos for free, but if you want that to be personalized, you will have to pay $7 per month for Chef+. Basically, you can watch videos from recipe developers, or called Chef+ artists. If you want the written recipes, you also have to subscribe," Woldu said.“Right now, Chef+ artists can upload only their recipe videos, but we are working on the monetization for the artists. You can accept that feature in the summer release," Woldu said.
