Quinte West City Council are moving forward with a plan to change its public parking policies.
The new hybrid parking model would include removing paid on-street parking and replacing it in favour of time-limited free parking for up to two hours. A fee would remain for parking in municipal parking lots. To offset the removal of on-street parking, paid parking at municipal parking lots will increase by $1.
The existing pay and display machines in municipal parking lots are reaching its end of life and will need to be replaced with new machines. The new machines will be able to provide an option to pay by coin or by debit or credit card. It’s anticipated that the cost for the new pay and display machines is anywhere between $8,000 and $10,000 per unit.
