BMW South Africa has launched the updated and more powerful M2, featuring a 15kW power increase and improved torque figures. The updated models offer quicker acceleration times and a higher top speed thanks to the M Driver's Package.
BMW South Africa has unveiled the updated and more powerful M2, boasting a 15kW power boost, bringing the total output to 353kW. This surge in performance is exclusively directed to the rear axle via an eight-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual gearbox. While the pre-updated M2 produced 550Nm of torque, BMW has increased this figure to 600Nm for the M Steptronic variant.
Both manual and automatic models offer the full torque range from 2,650rpm to 6,130rpm and 2,700rpm to 5,620rpm respectively. According to BMW, the M Steptronic model now completes the 0-100km/h sprint in a blistering four seconds, a tenth of a second quicker than before. The updated manual model, with its claimed sprint time of 4.1 seconds, accelerates to 100km/h from rest 0.1 seconds faster than its predecessor. Both models come standard with BMW's M Driver's Package, which elevates the top speed to 285km/h (from the electronically governed 250km/h). The updated M2 range starts at R1,570,988 for the M Steptronic variant and R1,581,334 for the manual model. These prices include a two-year/unlimited km warranty and a five-year/100,000km maintenance plan
