Special membership meetings called for July 27
With their collective agreement due to expire July 31, members of Algoma Steel's largest union have been called to special membership meetings on Wednesday, July 27.
If no memorandum has been achieved, members will instead be asked to approve whatever recommendation has been made by their negotiating committee.Local 2251 represents just over 2,000 hourly workers.On July 8, United Steelworkers Local 2724, representing about about 500 salaried employees at the Sault steelmaker, voted 95.1 per cent in favour of a strike mandate.
