Life-saving device at Masich Place Stadium vandalized
If someone goes into cardiac arrest at Masich Place Stadium today their odds of surviving have been cut in half, after thieves made off with an automated external defibrillator device located in the stadium parking lot.
"We are not waiting for a replacement, we are waiting for it to come back," the spokesperson said. "When it was originally purchased, the distributor of the device indicated that, as there is no resale value, they almost always turn up. Either they are found or someone else finds them and ships them back to the manufacturer. Staff walked all around the grounds to see if it had been discarded, but it has not been located yet.
The AED device was donated by Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond and her family in July 2021, in honour of Bond’s late husband, Bill Bond. Bill Bond died on June 6, 2020 following a stroke.
