Three suspects facing murder and hate crime charges in connection with the death of a Black man at a gas station in Tracy last month made their second court appearance on Monday.

Garner and Jones were arraigned in late March on murder charges with special circumstances alleging that the killing of 30-year-old Justin Peoples, of Stockton, was a hate crime, according to prosecutors. Officers located Peoples on the floor with a gunshot wound to his upper body and multiple stab wounds and transported him to a hospital where he died two hours later, according to police.
