Developers will face severe penalties if they fail to take action on tower blocks
ByAll high-rise buildings with unsafe cladding will be fixed by the end of 2029, some 12 years after thetougher measures for developers
Previous estimates from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government had placed completion dates to fix dangerous cladding at 2035. Announcing the remediation acceleration plan, Rayner said the pace of remediation “has been far too slow for far too long” as she pledged to fix the housing scandal.
As part of the measures, greater investment in enforcement will allow local authorities, the Building Safety Regulator and fire and rescue services to have more capacity to tackle hundreds more cases a year.
