Jackson Seng, Vice President of Sustainability and Strategy at Schneider Electric, has shared some of the sustainability and ESG trends for 2023. He stated that companies are focusing on achieving net-zero commitments and reducing their value chain emissions by investing in resources and building teams to ensure they meet their ESG goals or to explore new technologies.
Seng has observed that many companies in Singapore are developing a long-term sustainability plan. He recommends companies to have a structured approach to transition towards a more sustainable operation, but it's also essential to implement this plan and ensure the readiness of the workforce. Seng suggests that companies can take a good first step towards sustainability by understanding Singapore's green plan and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Seng warns companies not to solely rely on reporting their efforts but to take concrete actions that lead to sustainable operations. He suggests that companies should explore currently available technologies such as using hydrogen as an energy source and greening the energy supply for a greener transition.
