Unisa has placed a national student representative council member on precautionary suspension pending a disciplinary hearing into allegations of sexual harassment.

“While the university does not, as a rule, discuss the merits of such cases in the public domain, it, however, always ensures that appropriate action is taken against anyone found guilty of a serious misconduct such as sexual harassment,” the university said in a statement on Friday. According to Unisa, the complainant was offered counselling and continues to receive emotional support from qualified professionals.
