Six months since the announcement of return\u002Dto\u002Doffice orders, federal public servants are still not on board with the plan.

Various unions representing federal public servants have since voiced their disapproval of the decision, with the call fora key factor during the recent Public Service Alliance of Canada strike that took place earlier this spring.

Carr said that workers “are not feeling valued” adding 61 per cent of respondents said productivity has dropped, with most respondents also indicating that the impact on collaboration has been “neutral at best.”Article content “Unfortunately, many public servants are not feeling especially valued right now,” Carr said, noting that the occasion is meant to be a time to recognize and value of the services rendered by federal employees.

In thinking about the future of federal work locations, Carr said the union believes in “presence with purpose,” adding that it’s time for the government to provide workers with “a modern workplace” that includes flexible work arrangements, properly-equipped workspaces and a high priority on health and safety.Article content

“Our common hybrid model provides public servants and those they serve with a consistent experience across the public service while providing departments with flexibility to address exceptional operational requirements,” Salem said.
