The agreement was made in principle Saturday morning, said IATSE Local 160′s president John Galinac.

A joint statement with details on the agreement between Playhouse Square and the International Association of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 160 will be released Monday, according to Dan O’Malley, the head of North Shore AFL-CIO. The IATSE Local 160 members are part of the North Shore AFL-CIO.According to Galinac, workers from the non-union rental video equipment company hired by the film festival will be the main operators of the equipment.

However, under the agreement, there will be three IATSE Local 160 workers on-hand to provide technical help throughout the full stretch of the festival, March 30-April 9.Ahead of the Saturday agreement, union representatives claimed that Playhouse Square was using a loophole in a collective bargaining agreement that brings in IATSE Local 160 workers whenever the theaters need projectionists.
