New Welsh First Minister Vaughan Gething was plunged into fresh crisis today as he sacked a senior member of his own Labour cabinet for revealing that he deleted official messages during the Covid pandemic.
Mr Gething, who was the health minister during the pandemic, told the inquiry in March that his lost WhatsApp messages were not deleted by him but by the Senedd's IT team during a security rebuild. Mr Gething said he had 'no alternative' but to fire Hannah Blythyn, Minister for Social Partnership, accusing her of leaks to the media following a 'recent disclosure of communication'.
