Despite allegations of corruption and a party conference marked by division Ramaphosa looks set to lead the party in the country’s 2024 electionsSOUTH AFRICAN President Cyril Ramaphosa has been re-elected as the head of the ruling African National Congress party despite being embroiled in a number of scandals and growing calls for him to resign.
The vote gives Ramaphosa a much-needed boost. He is now in a strong position to head the ANC in the 2024 South African elections thanks to his victory. However he has denied any misconduct and has launched a legal bid to overturn the panel’s report. He claimed to have received the $580,000 by selling buffalo, but the panel expressed doubts about the South African president’s account.
