Councillor Jim Logue has been shortlisted for the 2023 LGIU Scotland and CCLA annual Councillor Awards for Lifetime Legend, in a selection that represents “some of the most dedicated elected representatives in Scotland.”

The under fire leader of North Lanarkshire Council has been nominated for a top gong at this year’s Scottish Councillor Awards.

Earlier this month, Councillor Logue survived a vote of no confidence following the reversal of a decision to close 39 community facilities across the local authority area. More than 21,000 people had signed petitions calling for the retention of facilities such as the John Smith Pool in Airdrie and the Sir Matt Busby Sports Complex in Bellshill, home of the Bellshill Sharks swimming club which became one of the most prominent campaigners against the cuts.
