Saskatoon Fire Department said in a Sunday news release that crews were called to the address around 10:15 p.m. on Feb. 24, and when they arrived firefighters saw smoke coming from the rear of the house. A fire investigator found the blaze originated in the living room due to an unattended candle burning too close to combustible materials. Damage was estimated at $10,000. The SFD fire prevention team will follow up to address the excessive combustibles identified throughout the house, and it was turned over to the property owner to make secure.
