An airstrike on Saturday in Omdurman marked the latest incident in Sudan's near three-month conflict between rival generals, reportedly killing 22 and wounding dozens more.
WAD MADANI, Susan - Conflict-torn Sudan is on the brink of a "full-scale civil war" that could destabilise the entire region, the United Nations warned Sunday, after an air strike on a residential area killed around two dozen civilians.
A video posted by the health ministry on Facebook showed apparently dismembered bodies lying partly covered on the ground after the air strike. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the air strike in Omdurman, which he said "reportedly killed at least 22 people" and wounded dozens, his deputy spokesperson Farhan Haq said in a statement.
Since the war began, many bodies have been left to rot in the streets in both Khartoum and Darfur, which has seen some of the most violent fighting.Nearly three million people have been uprooted by Sudan's fighting, including almost 700,000 who have fled to neighbouring countries, according to the International Organization for Migration.
