En San Francisco, una urbe que no llega a los 900.000 habitantes, mueren cada día de media más de dos personas por sobredosis, según cifras recopiladas por la prensa local, de las que más del 70 % fallecen por el consumo de fentanilo, un opiáceo sintético 50 veces más potente que la heroína y letal hasta en las dosis más pequeñas.
La fuerza de estas redes la demuestran datos como los publicados el miércoles por los Centros de Control de Enfermedades , que indican que entre abril de 2020 y abril de 2021 EE.UU. sufrió 100.306 muertes por sobredosis, la primera vez que se superan las 100.000.
