Something to get in a buzz about 🐝

Lincolnshire Wildlife Park carried out unusual animal care this weekend as a swarm of bees were removed from the tapir enclosure.

The insects had settled in the enclosure of Cecil the Tapir, who wasn’t fond of his new roommates due to his sensitive skin. The bees are believed to have ventured from the nearby village to settle in a hawthorn tree in Cecil’s enclosure.A nearby beekeeper lent a hand, while Barry, who oversees the beekeeping operations at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park, provided invaluable guidance on the end of a phone.

“Our primary concern is always the welfare of our beloved animals, and Cecil’s well-being is of utmost importance to us. "We are grateful to Barry for his invaluable advice and to the neighbouring beekeeper for assisting in the safe return of the bees to their hive.”
