LONDON - Britain’s aviation regulator ordered London’s Heathrow airport on Wednesday to reduce the fees it charges airlines, with demand bouncing back strongly after the lifting of pandemic lockdowns.at a time when it has yet to fully recover from aviation’s Covid-19 shutdown.
The regulator said the charge to airlines per passenger would drop by almost a fifth to £25.43 , for three years starting in 2024.“The CAA has chosen to cut airport charges to their lowest real terms level in a decade at a time when airlines are making massive profits and Heathrow remains loss-making because of fewer passengers and higher financing costs,” it said.
