McCaskill, who had a breakout freshman season with nearly 1,000 yards and 18 touchdowns, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee during a non-contact play. “It is absolutely painful for me to share with my Houston family, friends, and Coogs to say that I have torn my ACL,” McCaskill. “I am 100% dedicated to do everything I need to come back stronger and better than ever. To my teammates, coaches and trainers, we got this. Let’s be champions.”
No timetable was given, but it is expected the recovery would require McCaskill to miss most, if not all, of the 2022 season.
