Weidman’s damage resistance was a known problem years ago, and while he still has that great wrestling pedigree and a desire to compete, he’s up against a brutish striker who throws caution to the wind and comes forward. There doesn’t seem to be an avenue for Weidman to take, especially as Silva has decent takedown defense and will likely land a few shots on Weidman for trying to get him on the mat.
Weidman’s striking defense has suffered and he’ll inevitably take shots from Silva. While the former champion possesses slight advantages in height and reach, he’ll struggle to keep his younger opponent on the outside and won’t be quick to the trigger to capitalize on his mistakes. My best bet for the fight is that Silva gets right on Weidman, drops him with something big, and stops him.
