The Bruins are 1-3 against Mountain West teams and 0-2 in nonconference road games since Kelly’s tenure at UCLA began in 2018.San Diego State coach Brady Hoke is aware of the likelihood that UCLA will play all three quarterbacks, but he believes the key to getting an advantage is to stop the running attack led by TJ Harden and Carson Steele.
UCLA wide receiver J.Michael Sturdivant will be a player to watch on offense against a defense that’s allowed 601 receiving yards in its first two games. Lynn will have to prepare a game plan centered around quarterback Jalen Mayden, who leads the Aztecs in both passing and rushing yards. Gardena Serra High graduate Jaylon Armstead has also contributed out of the backfield with 139 yards and a touchdown this season. Kenan Christon has been listed as the starting running back in each of SDSU’s two games and received an equal number of carries to Armstead, but the USC transfer has been unable to surpass the 100-yard mark on the season.
