The Siya crew understands there’s been a turn of events at the Premier Soccer League regarding the resignation of a legal guru Michael Murphy., and then subsequently confirmed by chairman Irvin Khoza during a press conference, Murphy quit his role as the PSL lawyer apparently over a lack of consensus over the Kaizer Chiefs matter.
Chiefs have since been charged by the prosecutor Zola Majavu for their failure to honour two DStv Premiership fixtures two months ago, citing a Covid-19 outbreak within their camp and requested all five of their games at that time to be postponed. It became a real farce, with the PSL executive committee taking weeks to address the matter and deliberating over the pandemic rules that all member clubs had agreed on a year prior, but seemingly conflicted now that Amakhosi were hard hit.which has now headed to SAFA for arbitrationBut the latest is that the veteran attorney remains of service to the League, an organisation he has worked for since January 2016 and probably even long before that as a consultant.
There’s been no official word from the PSL since Khoza confirmed to journalists in December that Murphy had indeed resigned along with two others – independent prosecutor Nande Becker and chief financial officer, Yusuf Seth, who was poached by FIFA.Chiefs have since bounced back and gearing for a busy February...
