The city has filed a motion to dismiss the complaint from the Sauk\u002DSuiattle Indian Tribe
The lawsuit claims that the dams are leading to the decline of the salmon species by obstructing the passage of adult fish who swim upriver. The dams also block nutrients needed for juvenile fish to remain healthy as they migrate down the length of the river on their way to the ocean.

Groups such as The The city’s motion to dismiss the Tribe’s complaint will be heard in the Sauk-Suiattle Tribal Court on March 29. Fiander, who is also a Tribe member, added that two Washington State Supreme Court Justices had previously worked as Tribal Court Judges. However, he said, there is an “unwarranted fear that tribal courts will treat persons who are not members of the tribe unfairly.”
