As the novel coronavirus spreads across the U.S., economists are reassessing their forecasts for how the outbreak will affect the domestic economy.

Economic data so far haven’t offered much insight into the toll Covid-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus, might already be taking. The jobs report released Friday, for example, was strong but hardly reflective of the current state as the Labor Department surveyed businesses mid-February, before the disease really started spreading domestically.
