Plans by the White House and NASA to start using new U.S. space capsules to blast humans into orbit before the end of this year appear to be slipping
, according to government and aerospace industry officials.
The 2019 goal has been a mainstay of the Trump administration’s broader drive to accelerate space exploration, with agency leaders describing it as an important steppingstone to joining with commercial partners to return U.S. astronauts to the moon by 2024 and eventually to send them to Mars.
