The U.K. lifted its quarantine for amber countries from July 19—but there's a catch

For the vaccinated, however, the rules are now different:

children under 18, if traveling with vaccinated adults, will also be exempt from quarantine. However, and this is crucial, children over the age of 5 and under 10 will need to take PCR tests on day two in the U.K. Children aged between 11-18 will need to also take a pre-departure test and another one on day two. These don’t come cheap either and could add hundreds onto the cost of a family holiday.

travelers from the U.K. would also need to follow the particular requirements of the country they are traveling to– there is also the fact that the U.K. could change the category of a country from orange to red, which would mean that the trip would need to be cancelled. The ‘traffic light’ list is updated every three weeks, usually on a Thursday – so the next announcement about which countries are on which list will likely take place on July 15, next Thursday,The changes normally take effect the Monday after, so July 19.
