Tyson Foods has become the largest U.S. meat producer to enter the alternative protein segment, underscoring the unwavering demand for such products
“There is a big opportunity in chicken, which is why we’re entering into an alternative protein nugget,” Bentz said. “We are seeing high interest in the space.”
“The outside world is changing at an ever-increasing pace. For us to be relevant, it’s important to understand what’s happening externally, what some of the drivers of change are and, based on those changes, how are people reacting,” Bentz said. To anyone who has visited a fast food restaurant recently, this may not be a huge surprise. Chains from Taco Bell to McDonald’s are quickly deploying kiosks, KFC is having luck with its click-and-collect channel, delivery is on a tear and robots are learning how to cook. These technologies are a focal point for Tyson, Bentz said.
