Delta police were called to Highway 17 and Ladner Trunk Road just before noon Wednesday about a distraught woman. Officers learned the 21-year-old had escaped the van nearby after she’d been forced into the vehicle by two other people.As the Canadian national soccer teams head to their respective FIFA World Cups, Derek Van Diest is on the scene to cover all the action.
The second victim was later found unharmed in the Aldergrove area by Langley RCMP and two other people in the van were arrested. Police are recommending charges of forcible confinement and assault against those two suspects. Since the pair have not had a court appearance, their identities are not being released yet.
Delta police said Langley RCMP, the Lower Mainland integrated emergency response team and Air 1 helicopter were key to finding the second victim and the arrests.
