One man says he waited a fortnight for a birthday card from Essex which appeared to have travelled via Jersey.
Long waits for post and letters arriving "in bulk" were among reports of an "abysmal" service from Royal Mail.
Royal Mail said it was "committed to restoring quality of service" amid an ongoing recruitment drive."We don't get daily deliveries even if it's got a first class stamp," he said.Oliver Dobbs said mail arrives "in bulk" Mr Dobbs said the problem had persisted for "about two months", with people missing out on "commitments, hospital and GP appointments" as a result.
The 66-year-old garage owner told the BBC: "My daughter sent me a birthday card from Essex and it took weeks and the postal stamp said it had come via Jersey.""My dad was a postman so I know it's just not the service it was.A woman from Redruth added: "My post just appears in clumps and I've been close to missing appointments because of it."A Royal Mail spokesperson said: "We are committed to restoring our quality of service to our customers.
