BREAKING: Two prosecutors exit Roger Stone case after DOJ shifts to lighter sentence

The Justice Department’s retreat from a recommendation for a lengthy prison term for President Donald Trump’s longtime adviser Roger Stone appears to have triggered one federal prosecutor to exit the case and another to quit the government altogether.Jonathan Kravis, the deputy chief of the fraud and public corruption section in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, said in a court filing Tuesday that he has resigned his post.

A short time after word of the shift emerged Tuesday, one of the prosecutors who submitted the recommendation of a seven-to-nine year sentence for Stone, Aaron Zelinsky, formally withdrew from the case. A senior Justice Department official said Tuesday afternoon that department leaders were taken by surprise by. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the decision to revise the submission was unrelated to Trump's tweet and took place Monday evening, prior to Trump sending the message.
