JOHANNESBURG - Two mules have been arrested at OR Tambo International Airport after arriving from Brazil with cocaine.
This follows a recent crackdown on drug smuggling at the airport that has led to more than 15 arrests in the past two months.Police spokesperson Amanda van Wyk said the suspects will appear in Kempton Park Magistrate's Court this week on drug trafficking charges. "These Brazilian drug mules, aged 30 and 35, had just landed from São Paulo, Brazil when they were intercepted at the airport. One of these traffickers was found in possession of over 4kg cocaine in his luggage while a medical x-ray confirmed the presence of drug 'bullets' swallowed by the other drug mule. Fifteen"bullets" containing cocaine have been released," she said.
