Sad news to report
Two men have died following a serious collision on the A45, Northamptonshire Police have confirmed - with the situation also passed to the police watchdog due to their involvement in the incident. The crash happened near Raunds yesterday, Wednesday March 1.
The collision took place at 1.05pm on the stretch of the A45 between Raunds and Stanwick. The road was closed for almost 12 hours as all emergency services, including Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service, attended the scene. Northants Police confirmed to Northants Live today that the collision involved "a grey Ford Kuga and a green DAF truck". Drivers of both vehicles, a 52-year-old man and a 40-year-old man, died at the scene.Both directions of the dual-carriageway were closed to all traffic between the Raunds roundabout and the junction with the A14 at Thrapston. National Highways confirmed the road reopened at 12.13am on Thursday, March 2.
Northants Police continued their statement: “Due to prior police contact, a mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct. No further information is available at this time so as not to impede their enquiries.”READ NEXT:
