19-year-old Toronto man faces multiple charges of first-degree murder and drug trafficking, while two local residents are accused of accessory after the fact to murder

A 19-year-old from Toronto has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder after a triple shooting in Wikwemikong First Nation last night that killed two people and sent another to hospital.

Two residents of Wikwemikong — Terrence Recollet, 54, and Sherri Pitawanakwat, 33 — were also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder. They also face multiple counts of drug trafficking and possession of proceeds obtained by crime. ************************* On June 18, 2023, shortly after 11:00 p.m., members of the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service , the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police , and the United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin Anishnaabe Police , responded to a shooting in Wikwemikong Unceded Territory.

The three accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on June 19, 2023.
