LONDON – Two children have died following a knife attack in northwest England, police said on Monday, adding they had arrested a 17-year-old male on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
Merseyside Police said armed police had arrested the suspect and seized a knife after being called to reports of a stabbing at around 11.50 am at an address in Southport, north of Liverpool. “Horrendous and deeply shocking news emerging from Southport. My thoughts are with all those affected,” Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on X.
Britain’s Interior Minister Yvette Cooper said, also on X: “I am deeply concerned at the very serious incident in Southport. All my thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those affected”.
